DESTINATION FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER

Where you’re a photographer and artist, it is so hard to not take your camera with you everywhere.  Sometimes Daniel and I love to just enjoy the moments rather than capture it and will put aside our camera for the love of the moment and memory itself for just us, but then there are the other times where we know we want to capture some memories for us to have for our girls and family memories.  We want them to remember everything we did together and how much we love them.

We thought we would start off on small road trips before they get older and start expecting more grandeur trips.  What fun it was too.  It was fun seeing a few places we have never been then showing the girls White Sands National Monument where Daniel and I both went often growing up with our friends and family. We traveled through Taos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, the Large Array, White Sands and back up to the Four Corners and then to Durango. We loved every moment of the road trip, well minus a little car sickness and cleanup and just under a million “are we there yets,” but that just added to the memories we made this Spring Break.  I love spending time with my three loves and absolutely LOVE what Daniel did for us this trip. He set up the entire thing and it was so wonderful.  We had such a great time together as a family.  Daniel wanted to put together a time lapse of our trip, so with just over about 4,000 frames, here it is.  I just love it. I will cherish this forever as will the girls.  A huge thank you to my love, Daniel.  There are also some other beautiful frames that we took for family photographs that we will post soon.

Please enjoy this little snippet into our real life. We are just a normal family that are so lucky to have an abundance of love in our lives, a career we absolutely love and a simple life that makes us so incredibly grateful for everything that comes our way. We feel so incredibly blessed.

2013 Year in Review

” Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.”

Robert Browning

We don’t even know where to begin to describe 2013.  This was such an emotional year in our personal and work lives.  For the work portion of our lives, we met a lot of truly beautiful people, reconnected with many people we have photographed over the years and watch grow and we also witnessed a LOT of love being exchanged from them all.  It was a beautiful thing for sure.  Our love for documenting weddings was further developed in 2013 as our brides & grooms let us photograph them the way we see things through our lenses. The trust they put in us was amazing and we have been humbled by the love they showed.  And each year families grow up in front of our lenses which makes our hearts overflow with happiness. We are forever grateful for our clients.

In our personal lives, we watched our daughters grow up even more and it makes us want to slow down time. The days go by too quickly.  We want our girls to not only see the love we witness all the time, but feel it, as that is what is most important in life: true love and real relationships.  They always ask to see the photographs when we are back from wedding or family sessions.  We are sure to foster their love for weddings and photography…and probably for wedding dresses too.  They see that we love what we do and feel the connection we make with people.  We want them to take this knowledge and use it in their lives to grow and thrive in life and love. We also had a couple of beautiful souls that we had the utmost pleasure and honor of knowing and photographing pass away.  They touched our lives and we are blessed to have known them and know they are watching over their loved ones.  They were incredible women. We have so much gratitude for everyone we meet, hold close to us and cross paths with.  Thank you so much to all our family, friends and clients that believe in us, our work and feel a connection with us and our work to want to be a part of our lives.  It means the world to us.

We hope that 2014 sparkles as much as 2013 did.  From what we know so far, it is shaping up to be just that.  And for that our heart overflows.  We look forward to the moments in  2014 that will continue to take our breath away and inspire us to be better and fill our lives with love and joy.

The video is of our amazing clients (with a few of our daughters sprinkled in there too) and art from weddings, street photography, new babies, children and families. These are just some of our favorite photographs from clients that have allowed us to share the images in our body of work from this past year.  We have not had a chance to blog a lot of these images, so more from those sessions will be coming up on the blogs soon.

With love and gratitude~ heidi & daniel

We had an absolutely wonderful time as a family enjoying a small town celebration on the 4th of July in Durango, Colorado.  There was so much going on that day throughout the town that we could hardly decide what to do.  We finally went out to eat, watched the parade, went to the street dance and listened to music, then watched fireworks from downtown.  It was definitely a spectacular fireworks display too.  By far the best Durango has put on…ever.  Nice job Durango!  We were very impressed.

While I catch up on blog posts from family sessions from last year through now, I will also be posting snippets of recent sessions and our life.

Over Memorial weekend, Durango is in full swing with the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic along with loads of fun things to do for families.

We decided to take the girls to the carnival and it was a blast.

We had so much fun and Daniel documented the girls and I having fun.

More from the fabulous Durango Dance Spring 2013 recital coming soon.

I had the privilege of being able to document some fun photographs of the lovely production and sweet dancers that graced the stage at Fort Lewis Concert Hall.

Our daughters are students at Durango Dance and we highly recommend their dance studio.  It is all about the LOVE of dance and inspiring their students.  How can you not love that!?!

Here are just a few images from the recital with more coming soon!
